Swans Secure A Dominant Win Over Magpies In The Vfl

The Sydney Swans VFL team celebrated a big win against the Collingwood Magpies, securing a 29-point victory in Round 20 of the VFL competition.

Playing at Tramway Oval, the Swans kicked off strong but saw the Magpies come back to take the lead at halftime, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.

Peter Ladhams, back from the AFL, started with two early goals, followed by Sam Wicks, who also marked his return to the VFL line-up with a major and helped the team bounce back.

“It was a really impressive performance,” said the Swans’ VFL coach Damian Truslove, pride evident in his voice after the match. “Collingwood had a robust team that challenged us, but I thought our boys executed the game plan well.”

Despite a strong comeback from the Pies in the second quarter, the Swans regrouped during the break and kicked six goals compared to Collingwood’s one in the third quarter, leaving them with a solid 20-point lead going into the final quarter.

Joel Hamling and Ladhams both ended the match with three goals each, while others like Lachlan McAndrew, Joe Harrison, Jordan Endemann, and Ben Edwards also contributed to their side’s score. Young gun Angus Sheldrick topped the disposals with 36 touches.

The focus now shifts to the upcoming game against the second-placed Bulldogs, where the Swans need a win to keep their hopes alive for the final stretch of the season.

Truslove noted, “Next week it’s crucial we put together a full four-quarter performance to have a shot against a strong Bulldogs team. That’s where our minds are right now.”
