Tamil Actor Vijay Announces Political Party Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections, Names it ‘Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’

Tamil actor Vijay has made a significant announcement as he ventures into politics in the lead-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The popular actor revealed that he will be launching his own political party named ‘Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’. However, the party will not participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls but plans to contest the 2026 Assembly elections.

In a statement, Vijay clarified, ‘We are not going to contest the 2024 elections and we are not going to support any party. We have made this decision for the General and Executive Council Meeting.’ He emphasized that their main goal is the 2026 Assembly elections, where they aim to actively participate.

The statement further mentioned that after receiving the necessary approvals from the Election Commission of India (ECI), they will finalize the party symbol, flag, ideologies, policies, and connect with the people to mark the beginning of their political journey.

Highlighting his dedication to politics, Vijay stated, ‘Politics is not a hobby for me; it is my deepest passion, and I want to devote myself fully to it.’ He assured that he will fulfill his commitments towards his ongoing film projects while actively engaging in political activities.

Vijay explained the reason behind his decision, stating, ‘Wrongful administration, corrupt politics, discrimination, and divisive policies have hindered our development and unity. We need a political power to bring about necessary changes, and that’s why I am taking this step.’

The announcement made by the Tamil actor has led to spontaneous celebrations among his fans. Vijay’s entry into politics follows the footsteps of other prominent personalities from the Tamil film industry, such as Kamal Haasan, MG Ramachandran, and Sivaji Ganesan.
