Taylor Swift Fan Sues StubHub Over Ticket Guarantee Violations

Taylor Swift Concert Ticket Lawsuit

SEATTLE, Washington — A Taylor Swift fan is suing StubHub, claiming the company violates its “FanProtect Guarantee” by not providing valid tickets for a concert.

Alexis Christensen, the lead plaintiff, spent $14,000 on prime tickets for a Swift concert. However, she says her tickets were voided on the day of the event. StubHub offered her tickets with a “sharply angled side view of the stage” instead, which she describes as “clearly inferior.”

StubHub’s “FanProtect Guarantee” promises that tickets sold on their platform are valid. If a ticket is invalid, the company claims it will provide comparable or better tickets or a refund. Yet, Christensen’s lawsuit points out a gap in this promise: the determination of “comparable or better” is left to StubHub’s discretion.

The lawsuit accuses StubHub of routinely providing inferior tickets while promoting their guarantee to lure customers. According to Christensen’s lawyers, numerous fans have been affected by similar issues.

<p“While we cannot comment on ongoing litigation, our commitment is to fair resolution in every valid case, guided by transparency and customer trust,” a StubHub spokesperson said in a statement.

The class action lawsuit aims to represent “hundreds of thousands if not millions” of affected customers. However, it was filed only in Washington state, which may limit its reach. StubHub’s terms of service also mandate individual arbitration, complicating efforts to consolidate cases. The outcome of Christensen’s case against StubHub remains uncertain.
