Braxton Berrios Houston Texans Signing

HOUSTON – The Houston Texans have made another move to enhance their wide receiver corps by agreeing to sign free agent Braxton Berrios, formerly of the Miami Dolphins. The deal is reportedly a one-year contract worth $2 million, as confirmed by a league source.

Berrios, 29, brings valuable experience to the Texans after spending three seasons with the New York Jets and one season with the Dolphins. While his last season was marred by injuries, limiting him to just six games and four targets without a reception, he showcased his kick return talents, averaging 25.3 yards per kickoff return, with a career average of 24.8 yards and one touchdown.

Two seasons ago, Berrios caught 27 passes for 238 yards and one touchdown, and he recorded a career-high 46 receptions for 431 yards and two touchdowns in the 2021 season with the Jets. Throughout his career, he has totaled 134 receptions for 1,323 yards and six touchdowns.

The Texans’ move follows their recent acquisition of veteran wide receiver Christian Kirk in a trade, demonstrating their commitment to bolstering the receiving talent on their roster. The Texans are in a period of transition and are looking to improve their offensive capabilities ahead of the upcoming NFL season.

“Braxton is a talented playmaker who can contribute not only as a receiver but also in the return game,” said Texans head coach, who emphasized the need for versatile players. “We’re excited to add him to our roster as we continue to build towards the new season.”

With the Texans looking to revamp their offense, Berrios’ signing is a strategic step in their efforts. The team enters the offseason looking to establish a competitive edge and enhance their performance on the field.
