Texas Teen Camila Mendoza Olmos Missing Since Christmas Eve
BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Camila Mendoza Olmos, 19, has been missing since Christmas Eve, leaving authorities and her family deeply concerned. Sheriff Javier Salazar of Bexar County reported that Camila was last seen on December 24, around 7 a.m., outside her home in the 11000 block of Caspian Spring.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office earlier released security footage showing a woman believed to be Camila searching her car shortly before her disappearance. New footage from a dashcam captured an individual matching her description walking alone near her home that morning. Although Sheriff Salazar could not confirm the identity with certainty, he noted that her clothing matched.
Authorities are seeking assistance from the community, asking anyone with similar footage to help the investigation. “We’re not ruling out any possibilities, including the potential that this case may extend beyond the continental United States,” Salazar remarked at a recent press briefing.
Camila’s family expressed their anxiety over her sudden disappearance. Her mother, Maribel, stated, “It’s very stressful. We love her. We want her with us. We hope she comes back.” The family noted it is unusual for Camila to leave her phone behind, as she typically carries it during her morning walks.
In the days following her disappearance, over 100 volunteers joined law enforcement in searching for Camila, who is considered to be in imminent danger. The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security have also joined the effort, providing resources and monitoring possible border crossings.
Camila has reportedly gone through a recent breakup; however, authorities indicate it was mutual and not a factor in her disappearance. “Everybody close to her is cooperating,” Salazar stated.
The sheriff’s office encourages anyone with information regarding Camila’s whereabouts to reach out at (210) 335-6000 or through the BCSO Missing Persons Unit.
