Texas Woman Charged with Murder and Arson After Alleged Domestic Violence Incident
A Texas woman, Faith Paige Goynes, has been charged with murder and arson after allegedly killing her husband, Tomas Calavera Jr., and burning his truck. The incident unfolded in Bexar County, Texas, where authorities discovered Calavera’s body during a welfare check initiated by his father. Deputies in Calhoun County responded to a report of a burning vehicle and found Goynes paddling a kayak near the scene. She was identified as the suspect and had severe burns, along with possession of Calavera’s ID.
According to reports from KENS, KSAT, and Crossroads Today, citing an arrest affidavit, Goynes allegedly confessed to shooting Calavera before burning his truck. The burning vehicle was determined to belong to the victim. Goynes is also charged with arson causing serious bodily injury or death.
The initial welfare check was conducted after Calavera’s father went to his son’s home to locate him but was unsuccessful. Bexar County deputies then searched the home and found Calavera’s body.
