Thompson Twins Nba Playoffs 2025

HOUSTON, Texas — The Houston Rockets’ Amen Thompson and the Detroit Pistons’ Ausar Thompson are making history in the 2025 NBA playoffs as the first twins ever drafted in the top five. Amen was picked No. 4 by Houston, while Ausar followed closely at No. 5 with Detroit. Both are now pivotal players for their respective teams, eager to make their mark.

After their teams faced off in a significant match on April 19, Amen took a moment to reflect on their journey. “It’s super cool,” he said. “Last year, Amen was talking a lot about us. They had 41 wins. We had 14. He said, ‘Flip the number around, and that’s how many wins y’all got.’ But now we made the playoffs in the same year.”

The Rockets are currently in a tight series against the Golden State Warriors, looking to equal the series on Wednesday night. Meanwhile, the Pistons, who recently broke a 15-game postseason losing streak, are vying for a 2-1 lead over the New York Knicks in their series, with a crucial game set for Thursday in Detroit.

Both Amen and Ausar share a unique bond, having grown up in Oakland, California, where their competitive spirits were nurtured by their family. Their father, Troy Thompson, emphasized hard work and competitiveness right from childhood. “Their competitiveness was always there,” Houston coach Ime Udoka told ESPN. “You can tell they instilled in them that the team was greater than any individual.”

As their playoff runs unfold, the twins also hold aspirations of facing each other in the Finals someday. “I want to see him in the Finals,” Amen expressed. “That would be fire. But just one of us wins. I know who that’s going to be.” Ausar jokingly shot back, “Man, we would whoop ‘em.”

With their families’ vision and relentless drive guiding them, the Thompson twins are making waves in their debut playoff seasons, exemplifying the hard work and dedication instilled in them. The league and fans will undoubtedly keep an eye on their performances as they take on the challenges that lie ahead.
