Nba Regular Season Standings 2025

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — As the NBA’s regular season enters its final week, the Oklahoma City Thunder have clinched the best cross-conference record in league history, while the Cleveland Cavaliers maintain a strong position to secure the top seed in the Eastern Conference.

The Thunder, led by their formidable defense, currently hold a record of 64-14, establishing the best point differential in NBA history at +12.3 per game. They endured a minor setback with two losses over the weekend, but remain well-positioned to secure home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Cavaliers, with a record of 62-16, suffered a recent loss to the Sacramento Kings, delaying their chance to clinch the No. 1 seed. Still, the Cavaliers have minimal risk of dropping into a lower playoff seed, given their significant lead over the second-place teams in the Eastern Conference.

NBA analyst John Schuhmann noted, “The Thunder’s defensive prowess is unparalleled, but recent weaknesses in rebounding pose concerns entering the playoffs. They need to left weaknesses on both the boards and from beyond the arc." OKC’s overall defensive effectiveness remains the benchmark for the league, despite vulnerability shown in recent games, notably allowing the Lakers to score a season-high 22 three-pointers.

What to watch this week: Both the Thunder and Cavaliers face relatively easy schedules ahead; however, their performance against top-tier opponents is critical. The Thunder will play the Los Angeles Lakers twice, while the Cavaliers face modestly ranked teams such as the Chicago Bulls and Indiana Pacers.

Following the top two teams, the Boston Celtics and the Houston Rockets remain in the mix for playoff positioning. The Celtics aim to secure a top seed but must avoid injuries as they enter the playoff stretch. During this final week, several teams will be battling for favorable playoff matchups, with the 3-8 spots in the Western Conference particularly congested.

The Indiana Pacers, also contending for a playoff spot, may find themselves in a precarious position if they cannot maintain momentum. Similar battles are unfolding across the league, with teams focusing on both playoff aspirations and draft positioning as they conclude the regular season.
