Tiffany Hayes Injured in Game Against Mystics

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Golden State Valkyries guard Tiffany Hayes was helped off the court late in the second quarter during Wednesday night’s game against the Washington Mystics after suffering an injury. The incident occurred when she took an arm to the face from Mystics player Shakira Austin, resulting in a brief but alarming situation on the court.
Hayes fell hard to the floor beneath the Washington basket at 3:43 before halftime. Medical personnel quickly rushed to her aid, and she remained down for several minutes. Hayes eventually gave a thumbs-up as she was helped up and escorted to the locker room with a towel pressed to her face, receiving applause from the crowd as she left.
The team later confirmed that Hayes sustained a nose injury and will undergo further evaluation. This game marked the second in the expansion franchise’s history.
Golden State, now in its second season, plays at Chase Center, which is also the home of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors. Fans and teammates expressed their concern for Hayes’ well-being as they await more information regarding her condition.
