Tim Burton's 'beetlejuice Beetlejuice' Sequel Wraps Filming, Receives Official Title

Filmmaker Tim Burton has confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel to the 1988 classic ‘Beetlejuice’ has wrapped filming and recently received its official title. The new film, titled ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’, will bring back the original cast members, including Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice, Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz, and Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz.

Warner Bros. Pictures unveiled the official title and a new poster for the film, featuring a pair of hands holding a roll of white ribbon with the numbers ‘09,06,24’ in green text. This indicates the film’s release date, which is set for September 6.

The original ‘Beetlejuice’, directed by Tim Burton and starring Michael Keaton, was a box office success, grossing $75 million domestically. It marked the beginning of Burton’s creative collaboration with Keaton, leading to their work on the ‘Batman’ films and a live-action version of Disney’s ‘Dumbo’.

The sequel has been a highly anticipated project, with fans eager to see the return of the beloved characters and Burton’s unique visual style. Burton has expressed his enthusiasm for the film, stating that it allowed him to go back to his creative roots and work with talented actors and puppets.

The film’s production faced some challenges, including delays caused by the pandemic. However, Burton announced the completion of filming on Instagram in November, thanking everyone involved in the project.

‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ will introduce new cast members, including Wednesday star Jenna Ortega, Eyewitness actor Owen Teague, and Whiplash actress Melissa Benoist. Catherine O’Hara shared her excitement about a particular scene with Michael Keaton, describing it as a “crazy and thrilling” experience.

The film’s plot details have been kept under wraps, but fans of the original can expect a mix of comedy and supernatural elements that made ‘Beetlejuice’ a cult classic. The sequel will bring back the iconic character of Beetlejuice, a mischievous ghost who can be summoned by saying his name three times.

Now that filming has wrapped, fans can eagerly anticipate the release of ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ this September and see what Tim Burton has in store for this beloved franchise.
