A new trailer for Tim Burton‘s highly-anticipated ‘Beetlejuice 2‘ has been unveiled, giving fans a sneak peek at the introduction of new characters played by Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci, and Justin Theroux.

The film, slated for a theatrical release on September 6, serves as the sequel to the beloved 1988 horror comedy ‘Beetlejuice’, confirming the demise of the original Deetz family patriarch, portrayed by Jeffrey Jones.

Reprising her role as Lydia Deetz, Winona Ryder now portrays an adult Lydia with a daughter named Astrid, played by Jenna Ortega from ‘Wednesday’ fame.

In the aftermath of Charles’ passing, Astrid conjures Beetlejuice, depicted once more by Michael Keaton in one of his iconic performances.

Catherine O'Hara, renowned for her role in ‘Schitt's Creek‘, also returns as Lydia’s mother, Delia Deetz. Fresh faces joining the ensemble include Monica Bellucci as Beetlejuice’s wife, Willem Dafoe as the ominous Wolf Jackson, and Justin Theroux as a character named Rory.

Arthur Conti, known for ‘House of the Dragon‘, is set to make his feature film debut in this anticipated sequel.

Tim Burton, the maestro behind ‘Edward Scissorhands‘, expressed to Entertainment Weekly the surreal experience of getting Michael Keaton back into the infamous costume and makeup, labeling it as a ‘weird out-of-body experience’.

Burton and Keaton had harbored discussions about a sequel for years, with Keaton showing no keenness unless it felt right. The emotional hook for the sequel was found in Jenna Ortega’s character, Astrid, as her journey resonated with Burton’s own evolution from youth to adulthood.

Reflecting on the production process, Burton reminisced on the stripped-down approach, focusing on working with talented individuals and embracing the essence of filmmaking that initially captivated him.
