Timberwolves Extend Winning Streak to Eight With Dominant Victory Over Jazz

Minnesota, MN — The Minnesota Timberwolves achieved a significant milestone on March 16, 2025, by extending their winning streak to eight games, their longest in 21 years, following a decisive 128-102 victory over the Utah Jazz at Target Center.
Star player Anthony Edwards returned from a one-game suspension to play a pivotal role in the win, scoring 41 points in just three quarters. His performance helped the Timberwolves solidify their position as one of the league’s frontrunners as they look to avoid a play-in game.
“We responded well [since that loss],” said Jaden McDaniels, who contributed with 20 points and 12 rebounds. “We’re on a little mission right now trying to not be in the play-in. All these games count. We just gotta keep stacking.”
The Timberwolves rebounded after their previous loss against the Jazz on February 28, where they fell victim to the league’s worst team, prompting McDaniels to declare it “desperation time.” Since then, the team has shown resilience and cohesion, which paid off against the Jazz.
Coach Chris Finch praised the team’s effort, marking his 200th win with the franchise. “Couldn’t have asked for anything better,” Finch said. “You didn’t have to burn through a lot of guys’ minutes tonight unnecessarily, which is a good sign with a good professional win.”
During the game, the Wolves built an early 30-point lead, allowing Finch to rest his starters in the fourth quarter. Edwards’ impressive first quarter, which included 21 points, set the tone for a commanding performance throughout the night.
Despite being pulled early, Edwards expressed disappointment at not reaching 50 points. “I wanted to go for like 60,” he said. “I thought I was on pace after the first quarter, but you know when you sit a little bit you get kind of cold.”
With Mike Conley taking a game off for rest, rookie guard Jaylen Clark capitalized on added playing time, showcasing his defensive prowess with multiple steals and active ball pressure. “It’s just something I’ve always done,” Clark said, reflecting on his backcourt approach. He totaled eight points, three rebounds, and four assists.
“First of all he adds to our defensive identity,” Finch noted about Clark’s impact. “I trust him implicitly in this playing time. I trust him offensively as much as I trust him defensively.”
Edwards complimented Clark’s defensive contributions, likening him to former teammate Patrick Beverley. “The play he made today, by our bench in the second half was crazy,” Edwards remarked.
After a shaky second quarter where Minnesota let the Jazz close in, the Wolves regained composure, bolstered by a strong third quarter, outscoring Utah 37-25.
Collin Sexton led the Jazz with 22 points, but the Wolves proved too formidable on this night. The Timberwolves’ latest victory positions them well as they prepare for their next game against the Indiana Pacers.
The clash is set for 7:00 PM CT at Target Center, where the Timberwolves aim to extend their impressive streak to nine games.
