Timberwolves Hope for Anthony Edwards’ Return Against Knicks
MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards may return to action Wednesday night as the team faces the New York Knicks. Edwards has been sidelined since October 26 with a hamstring injury sustained during a game against the Indiana Pacers.
According to ESPN‘s Shams Charania, there is strong optimism regarding Edwards’ availability after he was upgraded to questionable for the game. This is encouraging news following a re-evaluation earlier this week that indicated he is responding well to treatment.
Edwards has been a vital part of the Timberwolves this season, averaging 25.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. His shooting percentages are impressive as well, hitting 51.9% from the field and 47.4% from three-point range.
If Edwards does not play, the Timberwolves will look to Donte DiVincenzo to step up. DiVincenzo has recently been a key contributor, shooting 42.9% from beyond the arc this season and making three or more three-pointers in six consecutive games. Head coach Chris Finch remains optimistic about the team’s depth despite Edwards’ continued absence.
The Timberwolves aim to stabilize their offense, especially since they have struggled with consistency without their leading scorer. The matchup against the Knicks is significant as Minnesota seeks to improve on their recent 2-3 record despite strong individual performances.
The Timberwolves are favored to win the game, indicating confidence in their ability to adapt and fill the void left by Edwards. The team anticipates a high-paced game, with both Randle and DiVincenzo needing to be productive as they embrace the challenge of facing a formidable Knicks team.
Edwards is expected to be re-evaluated again soon, with the hope that he can resume full practices and games within the next few weeks. Until then, his presence will continue to be missed on the court.
