Titans to Start Mason Rudolph at Quarterback Against Bills

Mason Rudolph Titans Quarterback

The Tennessee Titans have made the decision to start Mason Rudolph as their quarterback in the upcoming game against the Buffalo Bills. This move comes as a result of current starter Will Levis’ shoulder injury, which has been a hindrance since he initially suffered it on September 30 during a game with the Miami Dolphins.

Levis managed to return last week against the Indianapolis Colts but struggled significantly, completing only 59.3 percent of his passes for 95 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. His underwhelming performance continued, contributing to the Titans’ loss in that match.

Coach Brian Callahan mentioned that although Levis appeared ready during practice, his shoulder issues and the pressure from opposing players impacted his play. Consequently, Levis has been limited in practice throughout the week and is expected to be inactive for Sunday’s game in Buffalo.

In contrast, Mason Rudolph proved effective in a previous relief appearance, guiding the Titans to their only win with a 31-12 victory over Miami despite modest statistics—completing nine out of 17 passes for 85 yards. As a seasoned former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Rudolph has experience to draw upon, having completed 74.3 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and no interceptions during his last three games with Pittsburgh.

Also noteworthy is the fact that Trevor Siemian will be elevated from the practice squad to serve as the backup quarterback for this game.

The Titans’ notable reliance on a run-centered strategy under Rudolph was evident earlier, yet such a conservative approach may not suffice if they wish to keep pace with Buffalo, a team currently ranked sixth in the league for scoring.

As the Titans face a formidable challenge against the Bills, many eyes will be on Rudolph to see if he can lead Tennessee to break their current 1-4 record. The game is scheduled to commence at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday in Buffalo.
