Toledo Police Investigate Homicide of 18-Year-Old Findlay High Student
TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo Police Department (TPD) has launched a homicide investigation following the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Jaidon Mangas in a south Toledo alleyway on Saturday evening. Officers responded to a call about a person shot near Congress Street and Colburn Street around 6:13 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Mangas, a Findlay High School student, was pronounced dead at the hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the torso.
According to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office, Mangas’ death has been ruled a homicide. Police have not yet identified any suspects in the case. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers at 419-255-1111.
Mangas, who recently turned 18, was preparing to move into his first apartment on Monday, his family said. Findlay City Schools confirmed that he was a student at Findlay High School and released a statement expressing grief over his tragic death. “Trojan Country is grieving the loss of our student, Jaidon Mangas,” the statement read. “While we do not have any details surrounding this tragic event, we can confirm that he was a student at Findlay High School.”
First responders treated Mangas at the scene before transporting him to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The TPD has not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or potential suspects.
