Ty Haywood 2025 Five Star Offensive Tackle

DENTON, Texas — Ty Haywood, a 2025 five-star offensive tackle, has decommitted from the University of Alabama, shaking up the college football recruiting landscape. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound prospect from Denton, Texas, announced his decision Monday, reigniting interest from top programs, including Michigan.

Haywood, ranked as the No. 20 overall player and No. 4 offensive tackle in the 2025 class, had been committed to Alabama since July. However, his decision to bypass the early signing period in December signaled uncertainty about his future with the Crimson Tide. Michigan, led by head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive line coach Grant Newsome, has emerged as a strong contender for Haywood’s commitment.

This weekend, Haywood is scheduled to make an official visit to Ann Arbor, a critical opportunity for the Wolverines to solidify their pitch. “This is a prime chance for Michigan to show Ty why Ann Arbor is the right fit,” said a recruiting analyst familiar with the situation. “He’s a game-changer for any program.”

If Haywood commits to Michigan, he would join fellow five-star recruits Andrew Babalola, an offensive lineman, and Bryce Underwood, a quarterback, in the Wolverines’ 2025 class. Texas Tech and Florida State are also in the mix, but Michigan appears to be the frontrunner.

Haywood’s decommitment from Alabama marks a significant shift in his recruitment journey. “He’s been weighing his options for months,” said a source close to the player. “This decision was about finding the best fit for his future.”

As the traditional February signing day approaches, all eyes will be on Haywood’s next move. Michigan fans are hopeful that this weekend’s visit could tip the scales in their favor.
