Traffic Delays Follow Emergency Response in Suburban Chicago
Riverside, IL – A major backup formed during rush hour on Friday due to a large emergency response near the 2800 block of South Harlem, located on the border of Riverside and Berwyn in Chicago‘s west suburbs.
The incident began shortly before 5 p.m., and aerial footage from NBC Chicago Sky 5 showed police setting up roadblocks while emergency responders tended to a person lying in the street.
As authorities worked at the scene, traffic delays on Harlem Avenue became significant. The exact circumstances prompting the emergency response remain unclear, and no immediate information about the victim has been provided.
Police blocked off access to the roadway, causing traffic to build up as they rendered aid and investigated the situation. Local residents and commuters faced notable disruptions during one of the busiest times of the day.
Berwyn police did not respond immediately to inquiries from NBC Chicago about the incident. As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and authorities expect to release more details as they become available.
