Tragic Incident Claims the Life of Longtime Disneyland Employee

A beloved Disneyland cast member, Bonnye Mavis Lear, tragically lost her life following a grave accident at the iconic Southern California theme park. Lear, a devoted employee of the Disneyland Resort for over two decades, was involved in a fatal incident that occurred backstage, prompting a swift response from the Anaheim Police Department and Anaheim Fire and Rescue on Wednesday morning.

According to Sgt. Jon McClintock of the Anaheim Police, Lear fell from a moving golf cart and sustained severe head injuries upon impact. She was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention but sadly succumbed to her injuries on Friday. The entire Disneyland community mourns the loss of Bonnye, whose dedicated service had touched the hearts of many.

Ken Potrock, President of the Disneyland Resort, extended his deepest condolences to Lear’s family and colleagues, emphasizing the company’s commitment to providing support during this challenging time. Potrock shared, ‘We are devastated by the passing of Bonnye, and our heartfelt sympathies go out to all who knew and cherished her. Our immediate focus is on assisting her family and fellow cast members through this heartbreaking ordeal.’

Bonnye Mavis Lear, a Fullerton resident, had been an integral part of the Disneyland family for 24 years, with her most recent role centered around membership services at Club 33. The Orange County coroner’s office officially identified Bonnye Mavis Lear as the victim of the tragic incident, highlighting the profound impact her presence had within the Disneyland community.
