Transforming Sound: Serum 2 Synthesizer Launches After 11-Year Wait

LOS ANGELES, CA — Xfer Records has officially released Serum 2, the long-awaited upgrade to its iconic wavetable synthesizer, after 11 years of anticipation. Building on the original’s focus on high-quality sound and an intuitive design, Serum 2 introduces new features tailored for music producers and sound designers.
Designed to redefine the wavetable synthesis landscape, Serum 2 enhances the existing platform with additional oscillator types, an innovative effects routing system, an arpeggiator, and a clip sequencer. “This release allows producers to explore new creative avenues, expanding their rhythmic and melodic options,” said Xfer Records founder Steve Duda.
Originally launched to address the need for a synthesizer that marries pristine sound quality with a user-friendly interface, the original Serum attracted a large user base. With Serum 2, users will benefit from over 626 presets and 288 wavetables, offering ample material for both novices and seasoned professionals.
Serum 2 is compatible with VST3, AU, and AAX formats across macOS (from High Sierra and later versions, including Apple Silicon) and Windows (Windows 10 and above). A demo version is also available, albeit with a 15-minute usage limit.
For an introductory price of $189 until June 1, post-launch users can secure the software, with the cost reverting to the standard price of $249 thereafter. Notably, Xfer Records maintains its commitment to its community by offering the upgrade free of charge to current Serum users, reflecting its dedication to improving user experience.
Serum 2’s launch resumes the legacy of the original, establishing itself as an essential tool for those looking to expand their sound design capabilities. The powerful enhancements to its workflow, alongside the promise of lifetime free updates, position Serum 2 as a standout in the crowded market of electronic music production.
