Trump Musk Feud Reconciliation June 2025

PALM BEACH, Fla. — Tensions between President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk may be easing following a public dispute that escalated on Thursday. By Friday evening, both men expressed well wishes towards each other, marking a potential thawing of their hostilities.

The feud was initially sparked by Trump’s proposed legislation, dubbed the ‘Big Beautiful Bill,’ which Musk criticized fiercely. He described the bill as a pathway to ‘debt slavery,’ and it seems Musk’s frustration was compounded by a failed NASA nomination for his associate, Jared Isaacman, which Trump blamed on Musk’s actions.

As the tensions rose, reports indicated that Musk and some allies within the White House were placing the blame on Sergio Gor, director of the Presidential Personnel Office. Allegations surfaced that Gor had sabotaged discussions surrounding Musk’s plans, adding fuel to the fire of their animosity.

The ongoing conflict reached a peak earlier this year when Musk accused Gor of leaking a damaging story to the New York Times. In the aftermath, Gor’s alleged resentment of Musk became a point of contention among Trump’s staff.

Despite the conflict, there are indications that both parties are seeking to mend their relationship. Musk’s father, Errol Musk, advised him to reconcile with Trump, saying the two men share a unique bond. ‘In any successful group, whether among gorillas or humans, the dominant males will always fight for dominance,’ Errol Musk remarked.

As discussions about Gor’s potential sabotage continued, some Republicans voiced their support for Musk, suggesting that Trump might need to extend an olive branch to maintain party unity. The tragic reality of the proposed bill poses significant risks for Trump if it fails to advance.

While Musk’s criticisms surfaced in a series of posts on social media, signs of reconciliation appeared when Musk indicated he was reconsidering the decommissioning of his ‘Dragon’ spacecraft. The U.S. has relied on Musk’s technology for space missions, and the loss of that capability could have serious implications.

During a press briefing, Trump acknowledged the potential for reconciliation, stating, ‘I look at everything. He’s got a lot of money. He gets a lot of subsidy. So we’ll take a look at that.’ The expression of cooperation was welcomed by Musk, who seemed open to negotiating terms.

While the ongoing conversation appears hopeful, some allies of President Trump emphasized that the relationship may never return to its previous state. Nonetheless, with Musk’s wealth reportedly taking a hit of $27 billion amid the tension, a reconciliation could benefit them both.
