Trump Revokes Chris Krebs’ Global Entry Amid Ongoing Investigation

Washington, D.C. — The Department of Homeland Security confirmed on Thursday that Chris Krebs, the former director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), has had his Global Entry membership revoked. This action follows a directive issued by former President Donald Trump last month, targeting Krebs for defending the integrity of the 2020 presidential election.
Krebs was publicly criticized by Trump after he asserted there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud during the 2020 election. Trump’s memo outlined actions against Krebs, including suspending his security clearances and directing an investigation into his activities while at CISA.
A DHS spokesperson stated that Krebs is currently “under active investigation by law enforcement agencies,” which disqualifies him from participating in the Global Entry program, a service that allows expedited entry for low-risk travelers into the U.S.
Global Entry can be denied to individuals who are subjects of ongoing investigations. Krebs, speaking with CNN, remarked he found it hard to believe that the decision to revoke his membership was not an act of retribution.
In a joint statement issued after the 2020 election, CISA described it as “the most secure in American history,” contradicting claims made by Trump. Following the election, Krebs was removed from his position, with Trump labeling his statements as “highly inaccurate.” Nonetheless, Trump’s claims of a stolen election have persisted despite numerous unsuccessful lawsuits challenging the results.
This ongoing feud is part of a broader trend in Trump’s administration, which has focused on discrediting individuals who challenge its narratives or present conflicting information. As Trump re-enters the political arena, he continues to target former officials and allies he perceives as threats to his agenda.
In addition to Krebs, Trump’s actions include investigations into other former officials and measures against public figures who openly challenge his authority.
