Trump Suggests Using Military Against ‘Enemy From Within’ on Election Day
Former President Donald Trump has sparked controversy by suggesting the use of the military or National Guard to handle what he termed as the “enemy from within” on Election Day. In an interview with Fox News‘ Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures,” Trump expressed his concerns about potential disorder, but not from his supporters or foreign entities, rather from “radical left lunatics” within the country.
Trump stated, “I think the bigger problem is the people from within. We have some very bad people, sick people, radical left lunatics.” He suggested that if necessary, the National Guard or even the military should intervene to handle these individuals. This proposal has been met with strong criticism, as it represents an unprecedented encroachment on the democratic process.
The Harris campaign quickly responded to Trump’s comments, with spokesperson Ian Sams saying, “Donald Trump is suggesting that his fellow Americans are worse ‘enemies’ than foreign adversaries, and he is saying he would use the military against them.” Sams emphasized that these statements, combined with Trump’s other pledges, should alarm every American who cares about their freedom and security.
This development comes as the presidential election is in its final stretch, with only 22 days to go until Election Day on November 5. Both Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are intensifying their campaigns, focusing on key battleground states. The race remains extremely close, with no clear leader in national polling data or in several swing states.
Trump’s comments have also been seen as part of his broader strategy to lay the groundwork for potentially contesting the election results if he is defeated. He has repeatedly seeded conspiracies about non-citizen voting and mail-in ballots, despite there being no significant evidence of fraud in these areas.
