Route 66 Marathon And Fc Tulsa Championship

TULSA, Okla. – Thousands of people are expected in downtown Tulsa this weekend for the Route 66 Marathon and the FC Tulsa championship game against the Riverhounds. The soccer match kicks off Saturday at 11:00 a.m., aiming to draw about 10,000 fans.

As the venue transforms from a baseball field to a soccer pitch, last-minute preparations are in full swing. Tyler Tetzlaff from the local Soccer League highlighted the event’s unique setting. “It’s a little different playing in a baseball stadium,” he said. “We’re moving the cameras to capture the crowd’s energy, which will be electric.”

Despite Thursday’s rain, Tetzlaff expressed confidence in the field’s condition. “The grounds crew put the tarp out right away, ensuring the field is ready,” he said. “They’ve been meticulously caring for it.”

Nearby, New Story Brewing is gearing up for game day with happy hour on their premium pilsners. Co-owner James Schellhorn is excited for the atmosphere. “With the doors open, we hope to feel the energy of the crowd,” he said.

At Cabin Boys BrewPub, where they serve the official beer for the team, co-owner Lisa McIlroy encouraged fans to join the post-game celebration. “We’re going to party from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. after the game,” she said.

Kickoff for the match is at 11:00 a.m., and it will be broadcast live. Many venues in Tulsa, including New Story Brewing and Cabin Boys BrewPub, will host watch parties during the game. Fans should be advised that route closures due to marathon preparations may lead to significant traffic delays downtown this weekend.
