MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. – Two people, including a child, were seriously injured in a four-car crash on State Road 70 Monday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at approximately 1:04 p.m. on April 21, 2025, at the intersection of State Road 70 and Greenbrook Boulevard. An SUV driven by a 24-year-old man from Sarasota was traveling east when it failed to stop for a red light.

A Kia sedan, driven by a 56-year-old woman from Lakewood Ranch, was stopped at the light with a juvenile passenger. The SUV struck the rear of the Kia, pushing it into the intersection.

After hitting the Kia, the SUV continued through the intersection and collided with another SUV that was waiting at a red light. This second SUV was pushed into a nearby Honda, which was also stopped.

The 56-year-old woman and her child in the Kia sustained serious injuries and were transported to an area hospital. The driver of the Infiniti SUV suffered minor injuries, and the other drivers involved had either minor injuries or were unharmed.
