Uae Vs Bangladesh T20i Sharjah

SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates — The United Arab Emirates (UAE) achieved a remarkable win over Bangladesh on May 19, 2025, in the second match of a three-game T20I series. The UAE chased down a record target of 206 runs, securing a thrilling two-wicket victory at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, and leveling the series at 1-1.

UAE captain Muhammad Waseem played a pivotal role in the win, scoring 82 runs off just 42 balls. His performance marked the first time the UAE defeated Bangladesh in T20 international cricket, breaking a five-match losing streak dating back to 2016.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, the UAE faced an uphill battle against Bangladesh, who posted 205 runs in their innings. Opening batsman Tanzid Hasan led the charge for Bangladesh, scoring 59 runs off 33 deliveries, while Towhid Hridoy added 45 runs from 24 balls.

The UAE began their reply with an explosive start, having scored 68 runs in the first six overs. Waseem and partner Muhammad Zohaib, who contributed 38 runs, put together a substantial opening partnership, with the team standing at an impressive 107 without loss halfway through the innings.

However, the UAE’s fortunes began to shift as they lost both openers shortly after, sinking to 148 for 3. Despite the pressure, Asif Khan and Alishan Sharafu provided crucial support down the order, steering the team closer to their target.

In a nail-biting finish, Haider Ali hit 15 runs off 6 balls, bringing the UAE closer with 29 runs needed from the final two overs. The home side managed to seal their victory with a boundary on the last ball of the match.

Waseem expressed his excitement after the match, stating, “I have no words. I am very happy we beat Bangladesh. Very happy with the performance. I was giving hope to everyone that we could chase this score because we know the conditions.”

Bangladesh, without key player Mustafizur Rahman, who had left for the Indian Premier League, struggled to contain the UAE’s aggression. The final match of the series is set for May 21, 2025, and the UAE will aim for their first series victory against Bangladesh.
