In a significant development for the professional hockey franchise recently relocated to Utah, forward Dylan Guenther has been signed to an eight-year contract extension valued at $57.14 million. This move was announced on Friday by the team’s management and secures one of the league’s promising young talents for the club, previously known as the Arizona Coyotes.

General Manager Bill Armstrong of the Utah team expressed profound confidence in Guenther’s potential, stating, “Dylan is elite in every aspect on and off the ice. He is a young, highly skilled forward with a shot that’s evolving into one of the best in the NHL. He’s also a first-class person with a strong determination to be great. We look forward to having Dylan as a core player for this organization for many years to come.”

Guenther, at just 21 years old, is notable for his significant contributions during his previous season split between Arizona and the American Hockey League‘s Tucson Roadrunners. He achieved 18 goals and 17 assists, accumulating 35 points in 45 NHL games with the Coyotes. This performance underlines his status as one of the franchise’s primary building blocks.

Chris Armstrong, President of Hockey Operations, further emphasized the player’s importance, noting, “There isn’t a better example than Dylan when we talk about the combination of talent and character that we are so excited to build a new franchise with here in Utah. Today is another exciting day for our organization and our fans who will come to love Dylan, not just as a hockey player but as a member of our community.”

Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Guenther was the ninth overall pick in the 2021 draft and has amassed a total of 50 points in 78 career NHL games. He remarked on the contract extension, “This is a very happy day for me and my family. Everything about this organization is on the right track, and I know we have an opportunity to do some special things here for a long time. Utah is where I want to be, and I’m proud to commit to my teammates and the organization long term.”

With this new contract, Guenther is now bound to the Utah team longer than any other player within the organization, surpassing even the tenure of an unnamed defenseman acquired in an offseason trade, who remains contracted through 2031. Other notable contracts within the team include those of forward and defenseman team members, each signed through 2028.
