Van Amersfoort Racing Continues Partnership With Rafael Villagómez For Fia Formula 2

Van Amersfoort Racing has announced its continued partnership with Mexican driver Rafael Villagómez as he makes the step up to FIA Formula 2 for the 2024 season. Having achieved multiple points finishes during his three years in Formula 3, including a strong performance at the final round in Monza in 2023, Villagómez is ready to take on the new challenge.

The 22-year-old driver brings valuable experience in F2 machinery, having participated in the post-season test for Van Amersfoort Racing last year at Yas Marina. This will be Villagómez’s fourth consecutive season racing in Van Amersfoort colors, having competed for the Dutch outfit in the Euroformula Open Championship in 2021 and the following two years in Formula 3.

Villagómez expressed his excitement for the opportunity, highlighting the benefits of his familiarity with the team. He believes his experience will be mutually beneficial for both himself and Van Amersfoort Racing, stating, “The team and I know each other very well, which will only be of great benefit to all of us. I look very much forward to continuing our journey together and getting the season started.”

Van Amersfoort CEO Rob Niessink also shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing the team’s commitment to supporting Villagómez’s development. Niessink praised the Mexican driver’s determination and growth throughout his time with the team, stating that he is fully prepared for the next challenge in F2.

With Villagómez joining F2 race winner Enzo Fittipaldi, Van Amersfoort Racing completes its line-up for the 2024 season. The team believes in the benefits of long-term cooperation with their drivers, and they are confident that this continuity will contribute to Villagómez’s rapid progression in the sport.
