Veteran Mexican Actor Luis Couturier Dies at 87

PUEBLA, Mexico — Luis Armando Couturier Pumarino, renowned actor known for his roles in iconic telenovelas, passed away on February 27 at the age of 87. The announcement of his death was made Friday, February 28, by the Asociación Nacional de Intérpretes de México via an Instagram post.
The Asociación expressed their sorrow, stating, “La Asociación Nacional de Intérpretes comunica el sensible fallecimiento de nuestro socio intérprete Luis Couturier. Actor de amplia carrera en teatro, cine y televisión. Es recordado por sus entrañables personajes en novelas como Porque el amor manda, Pasión y El color de la pasión.” The cause of his death has not yet been disclosed.
In their message, the Asociación extended condolences to Couturier’s family, saying, “A sus familiares y amigos mandamos nuestras más sentidas condolencias de parte del Consejo Directivo y Comité de Vigilancia de la ANDI.”
His family announced that Couturier died in Puebla and that a memorial mass would take place on Saturday, March 1. They wrote in a statement, “Su partida deja un gran vacío en nuestros corazones, pero su amor y recuerdo vivirán por siempre en nosotros.”
Couturier was born on August 25, 1937, and began his career as a caricaturist in 1957, contributing to various publications, including El Universal and Revista Jajá. His acting career took off in 1978 with his debut in the film ‘Llovizna,’ followed by his role in the telenovela ‘Mamá Campanita.’
Throughout his distinguished career, Couturier starred in over 40 telenovelas, including hits such as ‘El Premio Mayor,’ ‘Huracán,’ ‘Locura de Amor,’ ‘El Manantial,’ and ‘Corazón Indomable.’ His performances have left a lasting impact on the Mexican entertainment industry.
