Vietnamese Airlines Offer Lunar New Year Flower Transport Service
Vietnamese airlines, including Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, and Vietravel Airlines, have announced a special service to transport peach and apricot blossom branches as checked luggage for passengers traveling during the Lunar New Year holiday. The service, which began on January 10, 2025, will run until February 12, 2025, to accommodate the high demand for these traditional Tet decorations.
Passengers are allowed to carry one bundle of peach or apricot branches per person, with each bundle not exceeding 150x40x40 cm in size and containing no more than two branches. The service is available on all domestic flights operated by Vietnam Airlines, with a fee of 450,000 VND (approximately $19) per bundle, excluding VAT. The airlines emphasized that the branches must be securely wrapped and cannot include potted plants or soil.
Vietjet Air has also introduced a similar service, extending its flower transport offering until February 15, 2025. The airline will charge the same fee and apply the same size restrictions. Both airlines have advised passengers to book the service in advance through official channels to ensure availability.
During the Lunar New Year peak season, Vietnam Airlines Group plans to operate over 11,000 flights, providing more than 2.15 million seats to meet the surge in travel demand. The airlines have also added new aircraft to their fleets to accommodate the increased traffic.
This initiative reflects the cultural significance of peach and apricot blossoms in Vietnamese Tet celebrations, symbolizing prosperity and good fortune. The service aims to make it easier for travelers to bring these traditional decorations home for the holiday.
