The View Talk Show Hosts

The co-hosts of “The View” addressed remarks made by former President Donald Trump during his speech at the 79th Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner, a well-known charity event in New York. Trump used part of his speech to criticize the daytime talk show, which led to a lively discussion on the subsequent episode of “The View.”

At the event, Trump referred to “The View” as “a stupid show,” claiming that its ratings have declined. He went further to suggest bringing back former co-host Rosie O’Donnell to improve the program. “This stupid show ‘The View’ is so bad now,” Trump said during his speech, drawing laughter from the audience.

In response, Joy Behar, one of the show’s co-hosts, quipped, “It seems like one of Trump’s biggest campaign issues is this show!” Ana Navarro added to the conversation by expressing her disapproval of Trump’s presence at the event, citing that it contradicts Catholic values. “To have Donald Trump sitting there and we are pretending that he is some sort of, like, upstanding citizen, I find it rather offensive,” Navarro remarked during the show.

Sunny Hostin, another host, pointed out that Trump admitted to watching the program, stating, “I enjoy it, and I enjoy that he has admitted now, at least three to four times, that he watches the show. Thank you, Donald! Hi!”

Alyssa Farah Griffin, a recent addition to the panel, challenged Trump’s attack on the show’s ratings. “We are number one in daytime over the last four years, so the ratings are fine,” she said. Griffin, who served under Trump’s administration but later became critical of him, suggested, “He apparently came after me on a podcast and said he didn’t know me and never met me, despite that I worked for him.”

The Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner event, where Trump made these remarks, is traditionally attended by presidential nominees from both political parties, providing a stage for light-hearted exchanges. New York Archbishop Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan and Melania Trump were also in attendance, while Vice President Kamala Harris, a nominee herself, was notably absent from this year’s event.

The exchange marks the latest episode of public sparring between the former President and the hosts of “The View.” The show continues to broadcast daily, maintaining its status at the top of daytime television viewership.
