Vijay Sethupathi Takes Over as Host for Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8

Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi has assumed the role of host for Season 8 of “Bigg Boss Tamil“, marking a significant shift as he replaces veteran host Kamal Haasan. The new season premiered on Sunday evening with Sethupathi dressed in a sharp silver-grey suit, signaling a fresh start for the popular reality show broadcast on Vijay Television.

This transition comes as Kamal Haasan, who has hosted the show since its inception in 2017 for seven seasons, announced in August that he would step down due to prior film commitments. In a promotional video released by Vijay Television, Vijay Sethupathi expressed confidence in his new role by saying, “I understand your expectations. Now the stage is ready, the contestants are ready, and your new host is also ready.”

The show which premiered alongside “Bigg Boss 18” in Hindi, aims to bring a new dynamic with the introduction of Vijay Sethupathi. Accompanying the changes, rapper ‘s composition serves as the theme song for the current season, further setting the tone for a refreshed experience.

Despite the new host’s warm reception, viewers have expressed nostalgia for Kamal Haasan’s presence. Several fans took to social media to voice their sentiments, with comments such as, “Missing of ullaga nayagan,” and “We miss that Kamal sir voice,” reflecting the emotional pull the previous host had on the audience.

With a theme reportedly exploring the battle of the sexes, the new season distinguishes itself by segregating male and female participants into distinct sections of the Bigg Boss house. Vijay Sethupathi mentioned, “There is no point trying to live up to the hype. Let’s figure out everything together,” underscoring his intent to bring his unique style to the hosting duties.

The show was unveiled at 6 pm on Vijay Television and is also accessible via Disney+ Hotstar, featuring an initial lineup of 16 contestants with future participation from three wild-card entrants. The format continues to capture widespread interest, maintaining its status as a staple in Tamil entertainment.
