Virginia Tech’s Aeneas Peebles Selected by Ravens in NFL Draft

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Virginia Tech defensive lineman Aeneas Peebles was selected by the Baltimore Ravens as the No. 210 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft on April 26.
Peebles, a 6-foot-1, 290-pound defensive tackle, shined during his college career, starting all 12 games in his final season and recording 31 tackles, including 6.5 for loss and three sacks. He earned a 90.3 rush grade from Pro Football Focus, leading all Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) defensive tackles and finishing fifth in the nation with 35 pressures.
The Raleigh, North Carolina native also received honors as an AP All-America third team selection and was named to the All-ACC first team in 2024. Prior to his standout season at Virginia Tech, Peebles played at Duke, where he accumulated 44 tackles over 35 games.
Despite his accomplishments, Peebles faces concerns regarding his size at the professional level. He has been described as undersized with short arms, which could affect his effectiveness in both run defense and pass-rushing situations.
“Aeneas has impressive quickness and lateral movement skills. He is quick off the ball, which allows him to shoot gaps effectively,” an NFL scouting report noted. However, it also highlighted his challenges in maintaining gap responsibility and a need for improved technique in run defense.
Born on September 3, 2001, Peebles was a three-star recruit in the 2020 class and had no major injuries during his college career. His tenure at Virginia Tech was marked by significant promise, culminating in his selection by the Ravens.
Following his selection, Peebles looks to make an immediate impact on the Ravens’ defense, which ranked second in the league for fewest points allowed last season.
