A Vistara aircraft operating flight UK 018 from London to Delhi landed safely at the Indira Gandhi International Airport following a bomb threat on Wednesday, October 9. The threat, later determined to be a hoax, prompted immediate action and thorough inspections, sources reported.

The alert was raised when a note claiming the presence of a bomb onboard was discovered inside one of the aircraft’s lavatories. The discovery led to the implementation of established security protocols, as confirmed by statements from both the airline and Delhi Police.

Throughout the incident, the safety of nearly 290 passengers traveling onboard the Boeing 787 aircraft was ensured. In response to the threat, the aircraft was directed to an isolation bay for mandatory security checks upon arrival in Delhi.

“A security concern was noted by our staff while the flight was en route from London,” an airline spokesperson stated. “All relevant authorities were informed immediately. We fully cooperated with them in completing the necessary security checks,” the spokesperson added.

Delhi Police confirmed that the Airport Operations Control Centre was alerted about the bomb threat at 08:45 hours. Following the standard security protocols, a meticulous inspection of the plane was conducted post-landing, and no suspicious items were found.

Initially, the crew performed an onboard search upon discovering the note but deemed the continuation to Delhi appropriate as no evidence of danger was found.

The entire situation was handled by adhering to established aviation security measures, ensuring the safety of the passengers and crew involved. The authorities, along with Vistara’s staff, managed the situation effectively, understanding the critical nature of the threat at hand.
