Wake Forest Golfers Earn GCAA PING All-Region Honors

CARLSBAD, Calif. – Two Wake Forest men’s golfers, Scotty Kennon and Marshall Meisel, were recognized on Saturday as part of the NCAA Division I PING All-Region team, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Kennon, a senior from Ponte Vedra Beach, has made the All-Region team for the second consecutive season. He leads the Demon Deacons with a 71.42 stroke average and achieved five top-10 finishes during the year. Notably, he won two collegiate titles, including the Calusa Cup and the 54th Furman Invitational.
Kennon’s achievements include recording a tournament record of six-under par at the Calusa Cup and a remarkable score of 202 (-11), which was the lowest in the Furman Invitational’s history. His performance included a standout third round where he shot five-under 66 with six birdies.
Meisel, also a senior, received this honor for the first time in his career. He boasts a second-lowest stroke average on the team of 71.52 and finished in the top 10 five times this season. His latest achievement was a tied fourth place finish at the Battle at Briars Creek, where he completed three under-par rounds.
Both players are participating in the NCAA Championships this week in Carlsbad, Calif., aiming to further establish their individual accolades as they conclude their collegiate careers.
