Warriors Coach Stresses All Options for Game 7 Against Rockets

HOUSTON, Texas — The Golden State Warriors are preparing for a crucial Game 7 against the Houston Rockets on Sunday after failing to secure their playoff spot in Game 6. Warriors coach Steve Kerr indicated that ‘everything is on the table’ for the upcoming match, including the potential return of Jonathan Kuminga, who has been absent from the rotation.
The Warriors lost 115-107 in Game 6, which ended their chance to finish the series early. Kerr acknowledged that the team’s current strategies are not getting the job done and signaled a need for fresh ideas to counter Houston’s aggressive defense, particularly their effective zone system.
Kerr stated, ‘We have to assess everything. Lineup combinations, starters, all of that we have to assess.’ This comment reflects the urgency of the situation, as a win is essential to avoid elimination after holding a 3-1 series lead.
Despite struggling to fit into the current lineup, Kuminga is seen as a player with upside. The 22-year-old forward showed promise in past games against the Rockets and could provide a spark. ‘He’s the most talented player we have left to unveil,’ Kerr added. ‘If we’re doing that, playing Kuminga significant minutes on Sunday has to be at the top of our list of possible adjustments.’
Stephen Curry emphasized the importance of aggression in offensive play. ‘If you have a shot, take it,’ he told teammates. His experience handling pressure situations will be vital for the Warriors as they try to navigate through an emotional Game 7.
In Game 6, the team struggled offensively, shooting just 30.6 percent from beyond the arc. This inconsistency made it easier for the Rockets to maintain their defensive structure. As they enter the decisive game, the Warriors will need all hands on deck — and that includes potentially altering their lineups and strategies to ensure their season extends beyond this weekend.
With Kerr’s leadership and adaptability to game situations, changes could be imminent as the Warriors seek to rebound and advance to the next round against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
