WDSU Chief Meteorologist Arrested on Domestic Abuse Charges
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana — Devon Lucie, the chief meteorologist for WDSU 6 News, was arrested early Sunday morning after a reported domestic abuse incident in Marrero.
Lucie, 48, was taken into custody by Jefferson Parish deputies around 1:22 a.m. on October 5. He faces felony charges of domestic abuse battery with child endangerment and misdemeanor charges for resisting an officer.
Deputies responded to a residence in Marrero after receiving a disturbance complaint. A woman present at the scene claimed she had been assaulted by Lucie, her dating partner of four years. She stated that the argument began at a festival in Gretna, where Lucie allegedly left her without a ride home. Once she returned to their shared home, the argument escalated.
The woman reported that when she couldn’t access the house, she used a tool to pry open the door. She claimed Lucie then entered the bedroom and punched her multiple times during the confrontation. According to her, she fought back in self-defense.
Deputies noted that the woman had visible injuries, including several cuts and welts on her body and face. She also informed deputies that her two children were sleeping on a sofa in the living room during the altercation.
When deputies questioned Lucie, he allegedly refused to provide his name and date of birth, as well as refused to wear clothing or shoes. He was medically cleared before being taken to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center for booking.
Lucie, originally from Macomb, Illinois, has worked as a meteorologist in various cities, including Las Vegas, Washington, D.C., and Denver. WDSU announced on their website that Lucie has been placed on leave pending the investigation.
