The critically acclaimed West End production of “Macbeth,” featuring David Tennant and Cush Jumbo in the lead roles, is set to be released in cinemas across the U.K., U.S., Australia, and other international territories. Directed by Max Webster, this adaptation has captivated audiences at London’s Harold Pinter Theatre with its unique take on William Shakespeare’s classic tragedy.

Tennant and Jumbo bring to life the roles of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, respectively, in this gripping portrayal of ambition and treachery. An exclusive clip released shows Tennant and Jumbo performing the iconic Act 1, Scene 7, where the couple conspires to murder Duncan, the King of Scotland.

The filmed version of “Macbeth” – captured during its run at the Donmar Warehouse – will be screened starting February 5, 2025. This cinematic release is facilitated by Trafalgar Releasing, in collaboration with Donmar Warehouse. Tickets will be available for purchase from October 16.

Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing, commented on the partnership, stating, “It’s great to be working with the Donmar Warehouse once again to bring their sold-out production of ‘Macbeth’ to cinema audiences both across the U.K. and globally. Theatre continues to be a significant driver of cinema box office revenue and is a priority genre for Trafalgar Releasing.”

Donmar Warehouse’s artistic director Tim Sheader and executive director Henry Finch expressed their enthusiasm, saying, “We are delighted that our innovative production of ‘Macbeth’ will continue to reach new audiences beyond the original run at the Donmar and in the West End. It’s so exciting to think that thousands of global audiences will now get to experience this brilliant cast and the intimacy of the Donmar in their local cinema.”

The production enjoyed a successful stint at the Donmar Warehouse before moving to the Harold Pinter Theatre for a run that began on October 1 and will conclude on December 14. Alongside Tennant and Jumbo, the cast features Moyo Akandé, Annie Grace, Brian James O’Sullivan, Casper Knopf, Cal MacAninch, Kathleen Macinnes, Alasdair Macrae, Rona Morison, Noof Ousellam, Raffi Phillips, Jatinder Singh Randhawa, Ros Watt, and Benny Young.
