West Indies Bat First Against Bangladesh in 2nd T20I
CHATTOGRAM, Bangladesh — The West Indies cricket team won the toss and chose to bat first in the second T20I against Bangladesh on October 29, 2025, at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium.
Captain Shai Hope expressed the team’s goal to exceed their previous score of 165 runs, which helped them secure a 16-run victory in the first T20I. ‘We are going to do the same again, we will bat,’ Hope said, noting that the pitch looked drier than during the first match.
On the opposing side, Bangladesh’s captain Litton Das acknowledged the need for improvement after their opening defeat. The team made one change, bringing in Nurul Hasan in place of Rishad Hossain. ‘The last couple of series, the bowlers have done their job. As batsmen, we need to come up,’ Litton said. ‘The wicket looks pretty good and in the second half there will be dew; anything 180 will be a good score.’
Hope’s squad remained unchanged for the encounter. Both teams are looking to improve their performances, with Bangladesh needing a strong showing to stay alive in the series.
As the match progressed, West Indies’ Alick Athanaze and Shai Hope both made significant contributions to the team’s total. Athanaze scored 34 runs off 23 balls, while Shai Hope added 38 runs from 23 deliveries. Their early partnership was vital for building momentum under the stadium lights.
Bangladesh’s batters will need to step up to support their bowlers in what could be a pivotal match for both teams.
