Gabe Davis Nfl Wide Receiver Visit San Francisco

San Francisco, CA – Free agent wide receiver Gabe Davis is visiting the San Francisco 49ers this week after being released by the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 26-year-old Davis is reportedly being hosted by the team, according to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports.

Davis was cut from the Jaguars following a disappointing season, where he played only ten games due to a torn meniscus. He had previously signed a three-year, $39 million contract with the Jaguars, but recorded just 20 catches for 239 yards and two touchdowns before his injury.

The former Buffalo Bills player was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft and spent four seasons in Buffalo, where he built a reputation as a dangerous deep threat with an average of 16.7 yards per catch and 27 touchdowns.

The 49ers have shown interest in bolstering their receiving corps, especially after trading away a top receiver this offseason and with another recovering from a knee injury. Currently, Brandon Aiyuk and veteran DeMarcus Robinson are expected to lead the team’s receiving efforts as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Despite his struggles in Jacksonville, Davis’s prior success with the Bills indicates that he could still have the potential to be a valuable asset if he can regain his health. If he can prove to the 49ers that he has recovered fully, he may secure a spot on the roster, adding depth to their offense.

The 49ers’ decision to sign Davis hinges on his medical evaluation and ability to reunite with his previous performance levels. Given the team’s Super Bowl aspirations, they are weighing the risks and benefits of bringing Davis on board as they look to enhance their passing game.
