Winterhawks Seek Redemption in Game 3 Against Chiefs

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Winterhawks return home tonight for Game 3 of the Western Conference Championship series, facing the Spokane Chiefs at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The Winterhawks trail the series 2-0 after losing the first two games, needing a win to keep their championship hopes alive.
In their last outing, the Winterhawks scored five goals but fell short as the Chiefs showcased a dominant offensive performance. Spokane scored eight goals, with multiple players contributing to the score sheet. Josh Zakreski and Diego Buttazzoni each had two goals and one assist for the Winterhawks.
The Winterhawks will look to take advantage of the home crowd and a familiar setting. They were in this position just a round ago, when they dropped the opener against the Everett Silvertips but fought back to win that series. Portland’s captain, Kyle Chyzowski, and forward Tyson Jugnauth have been key players throughout the playoffs, contributing significant points.
“We need to clean up our mistakes and play smarter in our defensive zone,” said Buttazzoni after practice Wednesday. “If we can do that, we believe we can turn this series around at home.”
Game time is set for 7:00 PM local time. The teams will wear their red jerseys in a bid to rally their fans behind them for this crucial matchup.
The series schedule also includes Game 4 tomorrow at 7:00 PM, which could prove pivotal for both teams. A defeat for the Winterhawks tonight would put them on the brink of elimination, while a victory could shift momentum.
Fans will have access to the game via the team’s app and through various streaming services, making it easy to support the Winterhawks wherever they are.
