Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Appalachian State Game Highlights

The Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team secured a convincing 87-56 victory over Appalachian State on Sunday, November 10, at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin. This win marked the Badgers’ third consecutive victory to start the 2024-25 season, a feat they have achieved for the fourth time under head coach Greg Gard.

The game began with Appalachian State taking an early lead, building a 17-8 advantage in the first nine minutes. However, the Badgers responded with a decisive 24-0 scoring run that lasted over eight minutes, turning the tide of the game. During this run, Wisconsin forced six turnovers and held the Mountaineers scoreless for 8:22, ultimately taking a 36-20 lead into halftime.

John Tonje and Steven Crowl led the Badgers with 17 points each. Tonje also contributed seven rebounds, a career-high five assists, and two steals. Max Klesmit had a standout performance with 15 points, a career-high five steals, and matched his career high with eight rebounds. Xavier Amos came off the bench to score 10 points and grab six rebounds in just 12 minutes of play. Nolan Winter added 10 points and matched his career high with eight rebounds.

The Badgers dominated in the paint, outscoring Appalachian State 48-24, and also held a 8-0 advantage in fast break points. Wisconsin’s strong defensive performance was highlighted by their ability to capitalize on turnovers, scoring 16 points off the Mountaineers’ 18 turnovers.

Looking ahead, the Badgers will host No. 10 Arizona at the Kohl Center on Friday, November 15, in a highly anticipated matchup.
