Wolverhampton Wanderers Vs Tottenham Hotspur April 2025

WOLVERHAMPTON, England – Wolverhampton Wanderers will attempt to extend their unbeaten streak to five matches when they host Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Molineux Stadium. Following a four-match ban, Wolves forward Matheus Cunha is back, though head coach Vítor Pereira indicates he may not start right away.

Wolves have made a remarkable turnaround in recent weeks, securing three consecutive victories against Southampton, West Ham, and Ipswich Town. Currently sitting 17th in the Premier League, they are 12 points clear of the relegation zone, showcasing their resurgence after a difficult season.

“We’ve found a way to play together effectively, which has been key for us,” Pereira said. “Matheus brings something special to the team, but we have to consider what’s best at this moment.”

On the other hand, Tottenham comes to this match following a draw with Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals. They recently broke a winless streak in the league by defeating Southampton 3-1 at home. Currently, Spurs sit in 15th place with 37 points, just ahead of Wolves in the competitive mid-table.

Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou is expected to rotate his squad ahead of Thursday’s crucial return leg against Frankfurt. Destiny Udogie and Micky van de Ven may not compete after suffering from cramps in their last outing. Kevin Danso, Radu Dragusin, and Dejan Kulusevski are ruled out, although the latter has returned to training.

“We face a challenging match and need to maintain our momentum,” Postecoglou noted. “Confidence is crucial, especially with European qualifications still in sight.”

The last time Spurs secured a victory at Molineux was back in 2021, and they’ve struggled against Wolves since their last win in August 2022. Wolves’ impressive form has raised the stakes for this matchup.

Historically, the head-to-head record shows Tottenham with 52 wins compared to Wolves’ 33 victories, with 22 matches ending in draws. However, Wolves have proved to be a thorn in the side of Spurs in recent encounters, having defeated them in three of their last four meetings, including both fixtures last season.

Wolves will be without long-term absentees Yerson Mosquera, Enso González, and Sasa Kalajdzic but are still confident in their squad. Cunha’s presence, despite being a possible bench option this weekend, adds depth to their attacking lineup that also includes in-form striker Jørgen Strand Larsen, who has scored in his last three league appearances.

The match is set to kick off at 2 p.m. BST, with referee Anthony Taylor officiating. It promises to be a clash filled with intensity as Wolves look to continue their positive trend and Spurs fight for their place in the Premier League hierarchy.
