Women’s College World Series Advances with Key Matchups on May 31

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The Women’s College World Series (WCWS) is heating up as six teams remain after the first round of eliminations. No teams will be sent home on May 31, but critical matchups are set to unfold at Devon Park.
The action kicks off with a clash between SEC rivals No. 6 seed Texas and No. 2 seed Oklahoma. These teams faced off in last season’s championship series, adding extra intensity to their matchup. Texas will look to pitcher who shut out Florida in a strong 3-0 victory during their opener. On the other side, Oklahoma’s ace Sam Landry aims to continue her dominance in the circle.
The second game features No. 9 UCLA against No. 12 Texas Tech. UCLA will hope to maintain its momentum, known for their late-game heroics. Following today’s games, the winners will face off again on June 2, needing one more win to secure a spot in the championship series.
All remaining teams have a stake in the next round of games, as today’s results will determine the next elimination game scheduled for June 1. The tournament features five SEC teams, with two from the Big Ten and one from the Big 12.
The WCWS is set to conclude on either June 5 or June 6, depending on whether the best-of-three championship series extends to three games. All games on May 31 will be broadcasted on ABC and ESPN, including commentary from Beth Mowins, Jessica Mendoza, and Michele Smith for the Texas-Oklahoma matchup.
Fans can stream the games via the ESPN app or Fubo, which currently offers new users a free trial. As the tournament progresses, the competition intensifies, with teams vying for the coveted national championship title.
