Young Thug Addresses Kendrick Lamar’s Diss Track in New Interview

ATLANTA, GA – In a recent interview, Young Thug shared his thoughts on Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us,” which caused a stir in the hip-hop community. Thug’s comments come after he was name-dropped in the song that targets Drake. The track, released in 2024, features Lamar calling out Drake’s relationships with several Atlanta rappers, including Young Thug, 21 Savage, and Quavo.
During the interview with Zach Baron for GQ, Young Thug, who was recently released from jail, expressed his loyalty to Drake. “Yeah, [Kendrick] just spoke on people’s name in Atlanta,” Thug said. “I don’t know what that was about. I’m a Drake fan.” His admiration for Drake was evident as he navigated the ongoing tensions between him and Kendrick Lamar.
Young Thug remained in the loop about hip-hop developments even while incarcerated. His girlfriend played him diss tracks over the phone to keep him updated on the beef. “He’s a lover of music in general. He f–ks with everybody,” she said, remarking on Thug’s perspective on the rap rivalry.
Kendrick Lamar’s third verse insulted various artists, claiming that Drake relies on Atlanta rappers for his image. “Thug made you feel like you a slime in your head,” Kendrick rapped. Young Thug’s response demonstrates his commitment to Drake amidst the public feud, as he has previously tweeted in support of unity among the artists involved, calling them all “bruddas.”
Moreover, reports suggest that Drake provided financial support to Young Thug following his release from jail, allegedly gifting him $1 million shortly after he was freed. Despite the tension in the air, Thugger’s fandom for Drake remains strong, reaffirming a friendship that has spanned several notable collaborations.
Looking ahead, Young Thug is set to release a new album titled “Uy Scuti” next month, which fans are eagerly anticipating. His return to music coincides with the rising conversation about the hip-hop beef, making his perspective all the more significant.
