Scattered downpours and storms set to hit Texas and North Carolina this weekend

Expect sunshine and muggy conditions today, but watch for scattered downpours that could drop up to an inch of rain. Potentially causing localized street flooding and gusty winds. There’s no need to cancel outdoor plans, but keep the KSAT 12 Weather Authority App handy in case rain is nearby.

Sunday brings a drier forecast with only a 20% chance of a stray shower, allowing most of the region to remain rain-free. While humidity will stay high and temperatures will climb into the lower 90s, the overall weather pattern will be noticeably quieter than Saturday.

A northward shift in the heat dome and incoming Gulf moisture will increase rain chances Monday and Tuesday. While rainfall will be scattered, some areas could see over 3 inches, prompting a Marginal Risk for excessive rain. Unsettled conditions are expected to persist through mid-week. KSAT meteorologists keep you on top of the ever-changing South Texas weather.

Changes are coming this weekend! Daily storm chances continue through Monday, but a front slipping through will bring a drop in temperatures by Sunday. Saturday will be warm and humid with highs mostly in the upper 80s. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected, especially lunchtime and beyond. Some storms could be strong to severe with a threat for heavy rain, lightning, damaging winds, and flash flooding. Saturday is a Weather Impact Day because of the risk. Be aware and have alerts turned on. Scattered showers and storms are likely again on Sunday with similar risks, but it will be cooler. Highs may only reach the low 80s on Sunday!
