Lucas Digne, the 32-year-old left-back, has verbally agreed to return to Paris Saint-Germain, a source told ESPN. Personal terms were settled quickly after PSG contacted him, the source added.
Digne, born and bred in Paris, will sign a three-year deal. He previously played for the club he supported as a boy between 2013 and 2016, before moving to Barcelona, then Everton, and later Aston Villa.
At PSG, he is expected to serve as backup to Nuno Mendes. However, the source said coach Luis Enrique and sporting advisor Luis Campos have guaranteed him regular game time.
The French international, who has 62 caps and is currently at the World Cup with Les Bleus, extended his contract at Villa Park last season after arriving from Everton in 2022 for £30 million ($40 million). That new deal included a release clause, which PSG triggered.
