Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua might be absent when the team travels to Australia for its season opener against the San Francisco 49ers. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that the NFL is reviewing Nacua’s off-field incidents, and a suspension remains possible. No charges have been filed, but the league’s personal conduct policy could still lead to discipline.
Nacua was accused in March of biting a woman and making an antisemitic remark during a New Year’s Eve party. He has since entered rehab and sought therapy, while the Rams have said they are letting the legal process unfold. Schefter said on his podcast that it is “within the realm of options” that Nacua does not play in the game in Melbourne.
The potential suspension would be a significant loss for the Rams. Nacua led the NFL with 129 receptions in 2025, racking up 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has been Matthew Stafford’s primary target in each of his first three NFL seasons. Against the 49ers, he has recorded 41 receptions for 434 yards and three touchdowns in five career meetings.
Schefter also identified other players under review, including Packers running back Josh Jacobs, Broncos linebacker Jonathon Cooper, Rams offensive lineman Alaric Jackson, and free-agent wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Falcons edge rusher James Pearce Jr. is expected to receive a suspension, with the duration still uncertain. For Nacua, the NFL’s baseline penalty for assault or battery is six games, but mitigating circumstances could shorten that.
