Phantom Blade Zero Pre-Orders Go Live, Donnie Yen Takes Center Stage in State of Play

Phantom Blade Zero is opening its pre-orders today, and alongside the announcement, PlayStation has confirmed a dedicated State of Play broadcast devoted entirely to the game. The stream is set for August 17 at 7:00pm PT, offering what the studio promises to be a deep dive into its intricate combat systems, dark wuxia world, and the many ways players can shape their builds.

The pre-order trailer that dropped alongside the news carries a familiar face at the end. Donnie Yen, the martial arts star and action film choreographer, has been attached as creative consultant since 2023. His influence reaches directly into the game’s combat design, helping deliver what the team calls an authentic kung fu experience. Yen also lends his facial and motion capture to Mó Yuan, the father of the protagonist Soul.

What the trailer hints at is only a sliver of the journey. The opening moments show Soul battling enemies on a speeding wagon and facing off against former comrades such as The Hunt. The upcoming State of Play promises never-before-seen characters central to the story, along with a closer look at how expressive player choices can be when crafting individual builds.

Phantom Blade Zero is set to launch on October 29, 2026, exclusively on PlayStation 5. Those who pre-order will receive early unlocks for the Treasure Basin accessory and the Legacy outfit, though both items will also be obtainable through normal gameplay progression.

The broadcast will stream on PlayStation’s official Twitch and YouTube channels. Sony Interactive Entertainment noted that co-streamers and creators should be aware that the show may include licensed music, and they advised omitting any copyrighted tracks if saving clips or VODs for recap videos.
