Oma’s Pride, a pet food manufacturer based in Avon, Connecticut, has issued a voluntary recall of 639 bags of its Woof Complete Canine Chicken Recipe frozen raw dog food due to potential salmonella contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The recalled product comes in a 6-pound gusseted stand-up pouch containing 12 individually wrapped 8-ounce vacuum-sealed portions. The affected lots were manufactured on Jan. 27, 2026, bearing item/SKU F-WOOFC-6 and lot number BB012729.
Distribution spanned 11 states: Arizona, California, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The product reached retail and wholesale accounts, as well as consumers who ordered directly online, shipped frozen.
“We take this finding seriously, and that commitment to food safety is why we are voluntarily recalling this lot,” Oma’s Pride said in a notice. “We are conducting further investigation to better understand this finding. The health and safety of pets and the people who care for them is our highest priority.”
The company advises customers who purchased the affected lot to stop feeding the product immediately, dispose of it safely, and contact Oma’s Pride at 1-800-678-OMAS or [email protected] for a refund. Additionally, pet owners should wash and sanitize bowls, cups, storage containers, and their hands after handling recalled food or any utensils that came into contact with it.
Salmonella infection in pets often presents with diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, while humans may also experience these symptoms after handling contaminated pet food without thorough handwashing. In some cases, the FDA notes, more severe outcomes like arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation and urinary tract symptoms can occur.
