Twitch is opening its sponsorship program to Affiliates worldwide, giving smaller streamers a direct path to brand deals and payment through the platform. Previously, sponsorships were mostly limited to Partners, aside from a few one-off campaigns.
The shift follows two recent Minecraft campaigns in which more than half of the paid participating streamers were Affiliates. That outcome convinced Twitch that brands want to work with Affiliates on a regular basis.
Affiliates who want to take part must accept the terms in the Sponsorship Portal and complete the Creator Sponsorship Certification. Once certified, they’ll receive email and in-app notifications when an opportunity matches their profile. The certification, Twitch says, helps streamers stand out as trusted partners.
Twitch has also partnered with Wehype, a global creator marketing platform, to surface additional sponsorship offers directly in the Sponsorship Dashboard. This week, EA is offering a Battlefield campaign through Wehype. Affiliates can check the Third Party Campaigns section to see if they qualify.
Creator Profiles are being upgraded too. Streamers can now feature clips in Sponsorship Highlights, giving brands a preview of their sponsored content. Twitch notes that Partners and Affiliates with completed Creator Profiles are more likely to receive sponsorship opportunities.
The required certification course is available on Creator Camp. It covers how sponsorships work, how to maximize them, and how to deliver strong results for brand partners. Affiliates must complete it to be eligible, and those who pass will display a “Certified Creator” badge on their profile.
With the Wehype integration, campaign discovery, briefs, and payments all happen in one place. Twitch says the tools are meant to remove barriers between streamers and earning opportunities.
